The Archdiocese of Hyderabad joyfully hosted the Archdiocesan Sports Meet 2025 – “Viva La Vida” (Spanish for “Long Live Life”) on October 25th and 26th at Don Bosco Navajeevan, Ramanthapur.
The Archdiocese of Hyderabad witnessed an energetic and faith-filled celebration as the Archdiocesan Sports Meet 2025 – “Viva La Vida” (a Spanish phrase meaning “Long Live Life”) was successfully conducted on the 25th and 26th of October at Don Bosco Navajeevan, Ramanthapur. The event was hosted by Our Lady of Fatima Church, Dammaiguda, and organized by the Youth Commission of Hyderabad Archdiocese.
The grand sporting event brought together youth from nearly 50 parishes across the Archdiocese, fostering unity, teamwork, and joyful competition. Parish youth leaders and representatives assembled a day prior to the event for the match draws and coordination.The Sports Meet commenced with the Holy Eucharistic Celebration presided over by Rev. Fr. Jerome Emmanuel Lewis (Archdiocesan Youth Director) and concelebrated by Rev. Fr. Viji Joseph. Following the Mass, Rev. Fr. Jerome officially declared the sports meet open, inspiring the youth to compete in the true spirit of sportsmanship and fellowship.
The two-day event featured an impressive lineup of team sports including Football, Volleyball, Basketball, Tug of War, Kho-Kho, and Throwball, as well as individual events such as Badminton (singles & doubles), Chess, Carroms, Running Race (100m), Relay (400m), Shot Put, Discus Throw, Javelin Throw, High Jump, and Long Jump.
Throughout the event, the grounds of Don Bosco Navajeevan echoed with cheers, laughter, and enthusiasm as youth from different parishes encouraged one another, embodying the spirit of togetherness and Christian camaraderie.The closing ceremony held at Christ the king Church, Ramanthapur was graced by the Guest of Honour, Mr.Norman Issac, former FIBA World Cup member, who inspired the participants with his words and presented the awards to the winners. The Overall Championship Trophy was jointly secured by St. John Maria Vianney Church, Bhoiguda and St. Anthony’s Church, Mudfort, with Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, Bowenpally finishing as runners-up.
The event concluded with heartfelt gratitude to the youth of Our Lady of Fatima Church, Dammaiguda, for their dedication and excellent organization. Mr. Clement, the Parish Youth President, officially declared the Archdiocesan Sports Meet 2025 closed, marking the end of a successful and joy-filled celebration of life, unity, and faith through sports.
