Youth Commission Events

The 10th Regional Youth Convention, organized by the TCBC Commission for Youth, was a spectacular gathering of young Catholics from across the Telugu region. Rooted in the powerful theme, “Those who hope in the Lord, walk without becoming weary” (Is 40:31), the event was a transformative experience for over 1,000 youth who came together in faith, fellowship, and formation.

The convention was held at St. Theresa’s Girls High School, Sanathnagar, Hyderabad, from January 11th to 14th, 2025. The highlight of the inaugural day was the Pontifical High Mass celebrated by His Eminence Most Rev. Anthony Cardinal Poola, Archbishop of Hyderabad. His presence, along with the esteemed bishops of the Telugu region, added great spiritual depth and solemnity to the occasion.

The leadership of Most Rev. Rayarala Vijaya Kumar, PIME, along with Rev. Fr. Sagili Praveen Kumar, Regional Youth Secretary, and Rev. Fr. Pranith, Diocesan Youth Director of Hyderabad, was instrumental in making this convention a monumental success. The REXCO team, alongside 140+ volunteers and participants from the Archdiocese of Hyderabad, played a crucial role in the smooth execution of the event.

The convention was not just a spiritual retreat but a comprehensive formation program that addressed various aspects of a young person’s life—spiritual, social, physical, emotional, and psychological. The sessions were designed to empower the youth in their faith journey and equip them for modern-day challenges.

Key topics included:

• Importance of Sacraments – Deepening the understanding of faith and its sacramental foundations.
• Cyber Security – Addressing the digital challenges faced by today’s youth.
• Pro-Life Movement – Advocating for the sanctity of life.
• Digital Evangelization – Preparing young Catholics for new-age evangelism.
• Youth Movements & Jubilee Year 2025 – A special session by Fr. Chetan Machado, National Youth Director (CCBI), who enlightened the youth about their role in the Jubilee Year of Youth - ‘Pilgrims of Hope’. Rev. Fr. G. Arogya Swamy further emphasized the significance of this sacred milestone.

The youth of the Archdiocese of Hyderabad, particularly the young members of St. Theresa’s Church, Sanathnagar, played an active role in the animation, coordination, and execution of the convention. Special mention must be made of Rev Sr.Nissy Pauline, the provincial of JMG Congregation sisters And Rev Sr. Sujatha the principal of St. Theresa's Girls high school and Rev. Fr. Justin, the parish priest of St. Theresa’s Church, whose unwavering support ensured the event's seamless organization.

The four-day convention was not just a celebration of faith but a renewal of commitment to the mission of the Church. It was a time of learning, sharing, and growing as a community—a generation of young Catholics, strengthened in hope, walking without weariness towards a future anchored in Christ.

The 10th Regional Youth Convention was a beacon of inspiration, reinforcing the message that youth are not just the future of the Church but its present strength. The event successfully instilled a renewed sense of mission and hope, ensuring that the young generation remains steadfast in their faith and unafraid to evangelize in the modern world.

With hearts ablaze with hope, faith, and determination, the youth of the Telugu region are now ready to embrace their calling as Pilgrims of Hope, walking together in unity towards the Jubilee Year 2025 and beyond.
